Costa Rican coffee beans are considered superior coffee beans with fine aromas and flavours. They are known for having clean, sweet flavours with well-balanced fruity notes and moderate acidity. You can expect to find notes of honey, citrus, vanilla, grape and molasses sweetness in Costa Rican coffee varieties.

In Costa Rica, coffee beans thrive in the high altitudes, warm temperatures and tropical climate that the country has to offer. Costa Rica also has fertile volcanic soil and steady rainfall throughout the year which produces high-quality coffee. Coffee in Costa Rica is typically grown in the San José, Alajuela, Heredia, Puntarenas, and Cartago regions. The best coffee is grown at 1,200 to 1,700 metres in a short, winter growing season and Costa Rica has well-defined dry and rainy seasons which present the perfect conditions.

Our Costa Rican coffee beans arrive as green coffee and are roasted at our Liverpool HQ into a delightful light to medium roast. We only roast Arabica coffee beans because they’re the best, so you won’t find any Robusta or dark roast coffee beans at Neighbourhood Coffee.
