Epic heritage and epic landscapes. A world-famous producing region. The birthplace of coffee, and still the country we love to visit the most.
Smallholders who have a few hundred trees, coming together at local wet mills to deliver perfectly-ripe cherries. Late-night processing operations in the crisp night air at almost 2,000 metres above sea level. Rows and rows of drying tables stretched across hillsides in the misty morning.
Yirgacheffe is world-famous for these kinds of crisp, elegant, fully washed coffees. The altitude, the slow maturation of the cherries, the decades of experience, the intangible magic that exists at these Ethiopian mills.
This is an elegant fruit explosion in a coffee cup. Floral aromas of jasmine and honeysuckle. Bright citrus acidity gives way to sweet tropical fruit and plenty of red grape juiciness. It’s the perfect coffee for a V60’s or a Chemex, as all the fruit will come out to play, but as espresso it’ll be bright and sweet.
