St Vincent’s visit
One of the great things about coffee is that almost everyone canit. We had the pleasure of welcoming a group from St Vincent’s School when they came on a visit to the roastery a few weeks ago, where they learnt about coffee origins, tasted a whole range of coffees in a cupping session, and then even roasted a batch themselves (with our help) as we talked through what was going on inside the roaster.
St Vincent’s works with children and young people who have sensory impairment and other needs, and the work they do is amazing. They’re in the process of converting an old dairy on their school premises in to a cafe area, so they got in touch (via a few roaster friends) and asked if we could help. This visit was the first stage in the process.
One of the team from Blue Canary films was on hand to document the visit, and everyone enjoyed learning, tasting, and talking about the various aspects of coffee production. The youngsters threw themselves into everything, despite not being huge coffee fans, and we wish them every success with their cafe project.
