Though we’re not sure the drunk tank on Christmas Eve is the best place…
From the lush green hills of Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo come coffees from the Tumba and Isale mills, bringing crisp orange zest, rich cherry and chocolate to the party. Beneficio San Diego, from the sun drenched valleys of Costa Rica throws in some marzipan, peach, brandy and caramel flavours, and the result is a coffee blend that tastes like all the best bits of Christmas – the marzipan layer from the cake, orange zest and cherry from the Christmas pud, plenty of chocolate, and plenty more.
It makes a delicious espresso, quite bright and lively, but with plenty of depth of flavour,
marzipan, orange and some brandy cream flavours are noticeable. In filter and pour-over, orange, peach and marzipan come to the fore, whereas in a cafetiere you’ll find more deep notes of cherry and chocolate.
