THIS IS PERFECT FOR:
All day session coffee
Peru San Ignacio, Cajamarca, fully washed
Raspberry, Plum, Candy
Following the success of last years’ Peru from Finca El Monterrey, we are delighted to roast another beautiful coffee from this lesser known producing country.
It comes to you all the way from the town and region of San Ignacio, and is grown by various small holder farmers. Located in the north west of Peru, the Cajamarca region has the combination of altitude, great varieties, lush terrain that are required for great coffee production, and a move among the local farmers towards higher quality methods paints a promising picture for the future of the specialty coffee in this area.
You may be less familiar with Peru than other coffee producing countries, as it has flown under the radar for several years. Until recently the remoteness of the coffee farms and the small size of the average farm has prevented much of the single-farm differentiation that has allowed for microlot development and marketing in other growing regions. But as with everything else in specialty coffee, they can change with the times, and big strides are being made.
This coffee brews great in all methods. In filter we get a lovely balance of bright raspberry, with a jammy plum sweetness, and a sweet candy finish. In espresso, everything is turned up a notch, the raspberry jumps out on the nose, and the plum turns to a jammy sweetness, which will be evident in milk drinks.
