This coffee comes from a collection of 12 producers in Southern Huila. Hulia is commonly known as the birthplace os Speciality Coffee in Colombia, accounting for 20% of the country’s production. Rich volcanic soils (thanks to the many ancient volcanos) and lush climate makes the area and ideal growing place for many crops, but coffee remains the most vital, making up 88% of most farmers revenue. With such importance placed on coffee, quality is key – and many coffee cooperatives support the farmers with techniques, access to markets and promotion of social and cultural projects.
